Dr. Daniel Amen and his wife Tana, were asked to spend an afternoon at a volunteer household to “clean-out” the kitchen. In this 15-minute video, they start with the pantry, and zero-in on typical foods found in the pantry of an American family, so we can clean-out our own kitchen. Foods that need to be eliminated include items containing hydrogenated oils, highfructose corn oils, pasta and even foods that appear to be healthy. After watching this, your food choices will never be the same!

Loved the video. What an eye awakening. I didn't think about "The meat you eat...know what they ate." WOW. Also didn't think Skippy Pnut butter was bad but .. there are alternatives. I have lost 10 pounds so far. Go Daniel Plan.

I loved the video. I to want to hear the alternatives to the Skippy Peanut Butter. Certainly didn't know peanuts aren't good for you. That has been my bedtime snack lately!

I will never look at food the same way. So glad I found Xocai Healthy Chocolate which is unprocessed cacoa which was confirmed as a good food by Dr. Amen.

Someone please contact me...I need to understand what Tana said, "I used to be insulin intolerant." Need more info on that please!

I love that Dr. Amen and Tana affirm that many (dare I say most) are sensitive to both legumes AND gluten AND recognizing that gluten affects cognitive function. This is good stuff!

What about foods with GMOs shouldn't they be eliminated also?

From what I learned while having gestational diabetes, pasta is actually a low GI food and is one of the better carbohydrate choices. Can you help me understand why it is considered a poor choice on The Daniel Plan?

Loved the video. Going to clean out my cabinets right now. This explaines why with all the exercise and "dieting" I have been unable to loose the last 45 lbs. Starting this Plan tomorrow.

I am on a quest to not diet, but to eat healthy and be healthy. I am very confident that this is the plan for me. Thank you for the video, I've learned so much about the good and bad in foods in such a short period of time.

Hoping to learn about those alternative foods -- pasta, peanut butter, etc. Did you you say that salsa is good alternative to ketchsup---Hmmmm...that will be a good start. Thanks for the ease you both showed in educating us :)

I am anxious to start the Daniel Plan after I did the Daniel Fast. I creeped back into some bad habits after throwing a girls Valentine Tea Party last week. Ugh.

Realy interesting information regarding the oils. I was shocked. I cooked in olive oil all the time. Not any more.

I have two separate pantries in my home. My food, and what my husband insists on eating. My side is gluten free. His side has pasta and processed foods. I am not perfect, but I am striving. Even though he has not made as hard a turn as I have, he is lagging in my footsteps LOL. I just through out the "vegetable" oil. We are 100% on Organic Coconut and EVO I am growing organic vegetables, not real good at it yet, but getting better. I have been telling him we need to shop more at the farm market and hug the outer walls of the grocery. At 55 and 60, we are doing pretty well. We both look younger than our age. I take no medications, his only regular meds are Simvastatin and Baby aspirin. He did try holistic methods to bring down cholesterol, but this was not working fast enough for him. Thanks for the great video and I will share it forward.

I was really amazed by what I learned, and I have considered myself on the healthier side as far as food choices. Lo and behold, my black and pinto beans which I thought were healthy have sugar and what is "hydrolyzed soy protein"? Is that the same as hydrogenated? Sounds like it. I'm going to the store today and cooking up some beans to last me the week.

This video is AMAZING! Thank you for posting this information in one place. I have studied health and wellness for 10 years now and you have just summed up the highlights of what I have learned in 15 minutes. I am studying to become a Health and Wellness Coach at Institute for Integrative Nutrition (IIN- GREAT program!) and I will definitely be having my clients watch this video....thanks Rick/Saddleback, Dr's Amen, OZ and Hyman for making this so accessible. I am SO excited and thrilled to have learned about The Daniel Plan through my IIN lecture with Dr Hyman!
