JAMI KARBER

Here at The Daniel Plan, we often hear how the Five F’s contribute to the success that a person experiences while beginning a journey towards healthy living. Jami’s story is no different. The Five F’s reshaped her health story, and her mom’s health story, and the health story of a small group of women from her church.

Where it all Began
Jami is a mom from Edmund, OK in her thirties. Her days are filled with the sounds and busy schedules of a 3 year old, 6 year old, and a 17 year old. She is plagued with aches and pains, high blood pressure, and heart palpitations that have scared her for years. Jami’s mom had a heart attack at age 50, and because of that, heart health has always been a concern.

Having tried many diets in the past, Jami realized that Faith was always the missing piece of the puzzle. The Daniel Plan changed all of that for good.

How the Five F’s Changed the Game
Jami knew something needed to change–for herself and for her mom. The Daniel Plan book had so much tangible information that helped her discover the best way to live. The truths in the book were so clear and understandable that even her mom has been able to get on board. By combining Faith, Food, Fitness, Focus, and Friends, Jami and her mom have both experienced a lot of success and are happily sharing their story with anyone they can.

Since starting The Daniel Plan in January of 2014, Jami has a whole list of health improvements:

  • Significant weight lost of 24.3 lbs
  • No heart palpitations
  • Clear skin
  • No longer needs to take four of her previous medications
  • 7 inches off waist
  • 6 inches off hips
  •  5 points down on BMI
  • Joy in seeing in mom make healthy changes

It really does take all 5 F’s to experience a true transformation. The Faith essential has helped Jami transform her relationship with God in ways she never imagined. The journal is a huge part of her day, she knows that God accepts her no matter what, and this newly found depth in her relationship with God gives her the strength she needs to reach out to others.

Stepping Outside of the Comfort Zone
One of the most inspiring pieces of Jami’s story is how she leaned on friends around her and provided her small community with the resources they needed to make changes in their lives as well.

She realized that what she was doing alone was not working. She needed the people around her and they needed her. By taking a step outside of her comfort zone and sharing her story, she has created a Bible study that serves as a safe place for 16 women to make their own changes.

This small group of women meets each week. Outgrowing the home they were meeting in, now they meet at their church. The rhythm of their meetings together is simple, but effective.

  •  Start with a Daniel Plan snack
  •  Watch the Daniel Plan DVD session
  •  Answer the group questions
  •  Share a tip that they’ve learned
  •  Talk about struggles
  •  Take prayer requests
  •  Pray together

All of this takes an hour to an hour and a half each week. Jami now has many great relationships with other women and feels a renewed connection to her local church. Her story has inspired a small community to make big changes.

Jami and her mom are just finishing up their second round of The Daniel Plan study. She is excited to see that her mom has been transformed and has taken back control of her health. She loves the women in her Bible study and wants to shout about The Daniel Plan from the rooftops. Jami is planning on starting a Sunday Daniel Plan class for her church and dreams of the day when larger churches in Oklahoma jump on The Daniel Plan journey!
