LORETTA KENT:
Loretta’s story is a common one. Her battle for health and weight loss has been long and frustrating. Thankfully, through The Daniel Plan Loretta has found hope, success in making good choices, and is armed with courage for the journey ahead.
A Lifetime of Struggle
I have struggled with weight since the second grade. Over the years, I’ve tried just about every weight loss plan, lost hundreds of pounds, and gained them back again. The Lord has been gracious to me over the years and I haven’t developed many of the diseases that other members of my family have struggled with.
In recent years, I have seen the effects of being overweight slowly affect my family. Congestive heart failure and kidney failure have claimed the lives of my father and a brother. Dialysis, heart problems, and diabetes plague my sister and other brother. And last year, at the age of 55, I noticed my own health deteriorating. I began to have excruciating pain in my right hand, numbness in both hands every night, bloating, and high blood pressure even while on medication.
I’ve never given up on that dream of losing the weight and feeling great.
In December 2013, while walking up a steep hill, I had to stop about every 20 feet to breathe. My loving husband gently suggested that it was time to do something about the weight because it was beginning to affect my health. I agreed.
The Year of Transformation
As I prayed about all this, I felt like I needed a word to focus on for the year 2014. Transformation quickly became that word. In December, my pastor’s wife posted on Facebook inviting people to join her in doing The Daniel Plan. After glancing at the website, I said that I would do it too.
So, on January 6, 2014, my journey began. My 90 year old mother even agreed to join me! We began The Daniel Plan Detox, following it exactly according to the menu suggestions, and we decided to do the meal plan for 14 days instead of the prescribed 10 days.
At the end of week 1 of the detox I had lost 8 pounds as well as several inches. The excruciating pain I had in my right hand was totally gone and I had full use of my hand. The bloating, sinus problems, and joint pain were gone as well. The “Brain fog” was gone and I was thinking more clearly. My blood pressure was down and I had more energy.
By the end of week 2 things were still going great! I had a nice level of energy and had lost 11 pounds in 14 days. Inches seem to be falling off of my abdomen area…that’s a good thing! I have not experienced cravings or hunger on The Daniel Plan and that helps me to make better choices. I love that! I have even gone out to eat several times during the detox plan and was able to find menu items or change them slightly to fit the plan, and still lost weight!
By week 4, I was no longer on blood pressure medication. By the end of week 5, I had lost 19 pounds and 14 inches off of my waist!
I am so thankful for the amazing changes I have seen in such a short period of time.
- Increased energy levels!
- Ability to stay active for longer periods of time!
- Weight loss!
- No blood pressure medication!
- No fatigue!
The Daniel Plan is the plan for me.
Hope for the Future
I have embraced that there is no failure that I can’t learn from—and on this kind of journey there are lot of ups and downs. For me, The Daniel Plan is not just another diet. The Faith, Focus, and Friends components have made an impact on me and put the whole package together. Prayer, focus, controlling my thought life, and the reading God’s Word have also played such a huge part in my success.
As I continue this journey, my hope is to continue to inspire others. I would like lead a small group and help others on their own journey to good health with The Daniel Plan.
Thanking the Lord every day for each step of victory!
