The Lord make his face shine on you and be gracious to you. —Numbers 6:25 NIV

Our prayer is that the Lord will make his face shine on us and be gracious to us. Yet sometimes it’s hard to see his graciousness in our lives because we get busy or overwhelmed by circumstances. We need to slow down and see the grace that is everywhere in the small things.

Frederick Buechner said, “Listen to your life. See it for the fathomless mystery it is. In the boredom and pain of it, no less than in the excitement and gladness: touch, taste, smell your way to the holy and hidden heart of it, because in the last analysis all moments are key moments, and life itself is grace.”

We need to be intentional in carving out time to listen to our lives.

We put ourselves in a mode of gratitude, of seeing God’s face shining on us, giving us improbable moments of grace. His presence, his power, his peace is there to be heard as we listen closely to our lives.

Food for Thought: “The Lord is gracious and righteous; our God is full of compassion” (Psalm 116:5 NIV). When we slow down and listen, we will experience his graciousness overflowing.
