You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in you, all whose thoughts are fixed on you! —Isaiah 26:3 NLT
As you work to renew your mind, stress will undoubtedly try to pull you away from your goals. The problems of everyday life often tempt us to make unhealthy choices out of convenience or as a temporary fix for handling stress.
It can be easy to get stressed out when we focus on our own limited resources instead of focusing on the unlimited resources through our heavenly Father.
When we choose to focus on God, he strengthens us with his perfect peace. We can fix our thoughts on him by meditating on things we know about him or on promises from his Word.
For example, he is faithful, he is all-powerful, he is all-wise. “Your love, Lord, reaches to the heavens, your faithfulness to the skies. Your righteousness is like the highest mountains, your justice like the great deep” (Psalm 36:5-6 NIV).
Filling our minds with these truths from his Word will drive out the negative thoughts. The way to drive out a false thought is to replace it with a true one. That’s the key to beating stress and living the life God intends for us.
Food for Thought: God’s love reaches to the heavens. It’s more than enough to lift you above your stress and to set your feet on the solid path he has planned for you.
