Excerpt from “Lose It For Life Devotional” by Stephen Arterburn, M. Ed.
“Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom, and as you sing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God.”
–Colossians 3:16
We need each other for the fulfillment of God’s plan in each of us. Life is not an individual project; neither is the journey of weight loss. When we are tempted to isolate and tackle life with God by ourselves, then we immediately oppose His inspired Word to us. It is His plan for us to live in community and mutual encouragement.
As we “lose it for life,” we can learn by the wise teaching and admonishment of one another. We can gather together for worship with gratitude for God’s goodness and all that He is doing. We can rejoice with one another in triumph and encourage each other in sorrow. As we lie out God’s principles in blessing of fellowship, we allow His Word to richly dwell within us.
