According to the Alzheimer’s Research & Prevention Foundation, exercise can reduce your risk of developing Alzheimer’s disease by 50 percent.

50 percent!

Regular exercise can also slow further deterioration in those who have already started to develop cognitive problems.

Taking your brain out for a walk can increase your brain’s neurotransmitters like dopamine and serotonin. Serotonin is your “don’t-worry-be-happy” transmitter, and dopamine is your “let’s-get-it-done” motivating transmitter.

People with ADD are low in dopamine quite often, but people who are sometimes depressed, aren’t feeling well, have mood disorders…a lot of times they are low in serotonin.

This week I’m stepping out of the kitchen to talk about exercising instead of food, because one of the questions I get, and actually I received it in so many different ways is, “what kind of exercise is best?”

“Should I lift weights?”, “Should I walk?”, ’Should I run?”

And the answer to that is, Yes!

I say that because most of the people I work with when they are first starting out are so over focused on what they should start doing, and they get caught up with the details, that they don’t do anything.

Just going out walking at a brisk pace (walking at a pace that you are running late for something) is a great start. And many of you have already started it. That by itself is just what the doctor ordered.

Did you know that exercising harder can be as bad for you as not exercising at all?

It’s true. I’ll tell you why, and why you should exercise smarter and not harder. I’ll also talk to you about:

  • The connection between exercising and insulin sensitivity
  • The connection between exercising and your metabolism
  • The connection between exercising and insulin sensitivity
  • How exercise disrupts your body’s process of making fat
  • How nursing home residents increased their mobility, agility, and independence after just a few weeks

If your dog is fat, you aren’t getting enough exercise! So consider this video as your “starter’s pistol” in getting you out there for your daily dose of natural medicine.
