Families that eat and workout together enjoy better health and fewer problems in life, studies show. The Daniel Plan dedicates this week to family fitness strategies, both why and how to incorporate a healthy lifestyle together!

Starting off, you’ll never guess what the most important meal of the day is…Read Eat Breakfast to find out why. Then, Dr. Mark Hyman gives two articles about eating as a family and how to eat at home and a video segment from CNN explaining the importance of dining together as a family. It will open your eyes to a sacred ritual that has been lost to our rushed, techy society, resulting in damaged lives.

Dr. Daniel Amen and his wife Tana, share wonderful strategies about how to get your kids started early with healthy living, taken from Tana’s new book “Get Healthy With The Brain Doctors Wife.”

EATING HEALTHY ON A BUDGET
Looking for ways to save money? Dr. Mehmet Oz offers one of his most popular video segments about $1 meals. And read Cost-Cutting Tips which is a compilation of strategies from Dr. Amen, Dr. Mark Hyman and two volunteer smart shoppers, as well as how to eat out wisely and the “little lies” we tell ourselves and rules for dining out from Dr. Amen.

FAMILY FITNESS
Dr. Oz also gives some family exercise ideas in this short video segment from his show. And our Fitness Coach Tom Wilson explains how to make fitness fun as a family. With sunny weather upon us, The Daniel Plan team member Tina Pretsch wrote about how to hit the beach in a healthy way, with a couple great recipes for Quinoa Tabbouleh Salad and Grilled Fruit Kabobs. Ever take a hike? Read about the Parker small group and how The Daniel Plan has impacted their lives, and taken them on some interesting group adventures. We’ve also added some great family fitness vacations ideas.
